Premier aout 2009 / 2009 Swiss national day, August 1

There was a lot of red and white flags and everyone was drinking some kind of golden liquid that make them smile... They all had a good time, and so I did too!

Mom and Dad had some fun without me that day and Mom can tell you about that, but what they don't know is how much fun I had with my babysitter while they were gone!


We had more fun in Hermosa Beach the next day. We all went swimming in the ocean, Dada and I build my very own little pool and then we had a picnic on the beach and listen to the concert while the sun went down. Too much fun!

Il y avait tout plein de drapeaux rouges et blancs et tout le monde buvait du liquide dore qui les faisait sourire... Ils ont passe une bonne soiree et donc moi aussi!

Mamant et papa sont alles s'amuser sans moi ce jour la et maman vous racontera cela, mais ce qu'ils ne savent pas c'est comme je me suis bien amusee avec my babysitter!

Le lendemain etait tout aussi bien. On est alle a Hermosa Beach et toute la famille c'est amuse dans les vagues. Papa m'a aider a construire ma propre petite piscine et on a manger un picnic sur la plage en ecoutant le concert et regardant le soleil se coucher. Trop bien comme d'hab...

Mom can tell you why we went down to the beach for breakfast and I can tell you: it was a blast!
No one there, warm water, big and little waves to play in... lots of fun. I had a blast running up and down the beach with Dad and then he took in in the water so I can see the big waves up close. I hope we do it again soon.

On the way home we checked out the El Segundo Library. They have an entire floor just for kids and even a fish tank. Mom used to take me to story time at the Redondo beach Library, maybe we can do it again here too.

We stopped agin by the El Segundo high school which you've probably seen in lots of movies and TV shows like Beverly Hills 90210 and found out about a concert taking place on the plaza that night.

So after another dip in the pool with Mom and Dad we walked back to the high school and listened and danced to the "Enchanted Forest" concert played by the chamber orchestra and children from the local schools. There was even a magician!

Sunday, we braved the heat at the Swiss Park in Whittier to celebrate Swiss national day(which is really on Aug 1) with other Swiss people. Check out the cute flags Mom and I got!
We found mom's canton flag, ate tasty meringue glace and Dad tried out crossbow shooting.

To keep with the musical theme of the weekend we headed down to the Library Park to enjoy the first of El Segundo's Summer Concert Series. More food, lots of dogs to make friends with and dancing with mom to the fun salsa music...

Maman va vous expliquer pourquoi on est alle dejeuner a la plage et moi je vais vous dire que: C'etait super bien! Y'avait personne d'autre que nous, l'eau etait presque chaude et y'avait des vagues de toutes les tailles. J'ai bien ri avec Papa en courant le long de la plage et a sauter dans les vagues. Il m'a meme porte au mileu de l'ocean (si si je vous promets) pour que je puisse voir les vagues de pres. J'espere qu'on refera ca bientot.

En rentrant on c'est arrete a la bibliotheque; il y a tout un etage pour les enfants et meme un aquarium. Maman avait pris l'habitude de m'emmener a la bibliotheque toutes les semaines a Redondo Beach pour ecouter la bibliotequaire nous raconter des histoires, j'espere qu'on pourra refaire ca ici.

On c'est arrete encore une fois avant de rentrer pour decouvrir le Lycee de El Segundo que vous avez tous problement vu soit dans un film, soit a la tele (Beverly Hills 90210). Le campus est tres joli et on nous a dis qu'il y aurait un concert ce soir la.

Alors apres un autre saut dans l'eau a la piscine, nous sommes redescendu au lycee pour ecouter et danser au son de l'orchestre de chambre et des enfants de la ville. Le theme etait "la foret enchantee" Il y avait plein de decorations et arbres enchantes sur la place et meme un magicien!

Dimanche on s'est habille tres legerement pour supporter la chaleur de Whittier (a l'interieur des terres). Le Swiss parc de la ville organize une petite fete national. Oui oui, je sais que c'est pas avant samedi prochain... Y'avait des yoddlers avec leurs accordeons et un cors des Alpes, des meringues glacees et plein de jeux. Maman et moi on c'est fait des jolis drapeaux suisses et papa a appris a tirer a l'arbalette!

Puisqu'il faisait si chaud on est pas reste toute la journee et on a termine la journee au parc de la Bibliotheque ou avait lieu le premier concert d'ete de la ville. Un petit picnic, plusieurs chiens dont j'ai fait la connaisance et des pirouettes avec maman!

Done with school! / Fini l'ecole

Well no, duh, not for me, but for Mom. Finally I won't have to try and be quite when she reads or write, now she's all mine!

Yeah yeah yeah, I'm proud of her too, but really, all she got is a piece of paper with strange acronyms on it: USC MPA what does it even all mean?!?

My favorite part so far was going to the Hermosa Beach Sunset concert with her friends to celebrate. Music, beach, lots of people to charm, I had a great time! Mom had a good time too, read what she had to say.

Ben non, pas pour moi, mais c'est maman qui a fini l'ecole. Pas trop tot! Maintenant, je devrai plus essayer d'etre tranquille quand elle lit, elle est tout a moi!

Oui, oui, oui, je suis aussi fiere d'elle, mais si vous voulez savoir, tout ce qu'elle a c'est un papier avec des bizarres de dessins dessus: USC MPA Je sais meme pas ce que ca veut dire moi?!?

Le mieux jusq-a present c'etait hier soir quand on est alle a Hermosa Beach avec ses amis pour un concert sur la plage. De la musique, du sable et beaucoud de gens a qui faire du charme... Je me suis dong tres bien amuse! Et maman aussi, voila ses pensees...

More time with my cousins! / Encore qques jours avec mes cousines

I couldn't believe it, I got home from daycare one day and Liobe, Maylis, Ansgar and Estelle were back in our house after their fun trip in California! I was SO excited! That meant more fun bath together, running through the apartment, and lots of play and laughter....

Mom stayed home the next day and we all went to the beach. I got splashed by a wave and think it was pretty fun. Liobe and I dug holes in the sand and sat in them while our moms built mountains around us. We were the Mt. Saint Elana and the Mount Saint Liobe.

My cousins were very excited because we saw dolphins in the water. They are so much fun! Before we got home, Estelle, Liobe and I got buried in the sand just like turtles.

After dinner that night, we had a dance party. Wohoo, too good!

And with all the fun I had with them I was sad to see them go the next day. Just in case they decided to come back I still ask Mom if Liobe and Maylis will be home when we get there.

Wow, j'arrivais pas a le croire, quand je suis rentree de la creche, Maylis, Liobe, Estelle et Ansgar etait de nouveau chez nous apres leurs grandes aventures an Californie! Ca voulait dire qu'on aurait encore des bains partager, des course a travers l'appartement et plein de rire et de jeux...

Maman est restee a la maison le lendemain et nous sommes tous alles a la plage. Je me suis mise les pieds dans l'eau et ai meme ris quand je me suis fait rincer par une vague.

Avec Liobe, on a creuse des trous dans le sable pour s'y assoir et nos mamans on construit des montagnes autour de nous. J'etais le Mont St.-Elana et Liobe le Mt. St.-Liobe.

Avant de manger notre picnic, a vu des dauphins s'amuser dans les vagues, quelle surprise. Et avant de rentre, Liobe, Estelle et moi nous sommes faites enterre dans le sable, un peu comme des tortues!

Ce soir la, apres un delicieux repas qu'Estelle a prepare, on a fait une dance party. Trop bien!

Du coup j'etais bien triste quand ils sont tous reparti le lendemain. Au cas ou ils ont decide de revenir, je demande encore souvent a maman, avant qu'on rentre a la maison si Maylis et Liobe seront la.

SeaWorld

J'ai vu plein de choses a SeaWorld avec Granp-papa Ron et mes parents! On y est aller il y a quelques semaines car Papa avait recu des billet pour la fete des peres.
Tout d'abords on est alle voir les dauphins, meme un spectable. C'etait tres bien jusqu'a ce qu'on se fasse arroser. J'ai pas trop aime. Alors quand on est aller voir les orques, on s'est mis un peu plus loin...

J'ai vu des tortues marines, des requins, des pinguins, lion de mers..., ai touche des etoiles de mer et des raies et decouvert tous plein de poissons!
Et pour terminer la journee je me suis amusee dans au parc. Tres bonne journee!

Le lendemain Papa et Maman m'ont laisser a la maison avec oncle Scott, grand-papa Ron et Grand-mama Annette. J'ai fait des biscuit et me suis bien amuse! Peut-etre un peu trop car je suis tombee bien malade ce soir la. J'ai vomis toute la nuit et j'peux vous dire c'etait pas super sympa. Mais apres 2 jours de bonnes sieste j'etait remise!

I saw lots of great things at SeaWorld with Grand-pa and my parents! First we saw the dolphins and then the dolphin show. I had a great time until we got soaked by them. I have to say that I didn't like that too much. So when we went to see Shamu, we sat a bit further....

I saw seat turtles, sharks, penguins, sea lions, discovered all kinds of new fish... and I got to touch rays and seastars, that was cool.
To wrap up the day I got to run around and play at the water park. It was a perfect day!

The next day, Dad and Mom left me with Uncle Scott, grand-pa Ron and grand-ma Annette. We made cookies and had tons of fun together. Maybe even too much fun because I got really sick that night. I can tell you that throwing up all night long is NOT one of my favorite things to do, but after two days of rest I was all better!

Fourth of July Weekend / La Fête National Américaine

Quelle journée!
Tout d'abords je me suis reveillée avec Grand-papa et Oncle Scott dans ma chambre et je suis sure que quand je suis allée au lit ils n'était pas là!
On a partagé un immense déjeuner et on est allé voir ce qui se passait dans le parc. Maman avait déja remarqué, en allant courir, le monde qui attendait pour avoir une bonne place pour les feux d'artifice le soir mais on savait pas ce qu'il y avait à la foire...

On est arrivé pile a temps pour que je fasse une petite course. J'ai couru super vite mais ai été distraite par tout le monde...

Aprés ça, on a acheté des oeufs que je me suis fait un plaisir de casser sur la tête à tout le monde. Oui, même la mienne.

Grand-papa et Oncle Scott on participé au lancé des ballons d'eau! Non, non, je vous dirai pas qui l'a fait tomber en premier.

Oh et papa et maman on participe à la course au sac. Wow qu'est-ce-qu'ils étaient rapides!

Je me suis aussi fait dessiner un drapeau américain sur la joue et après tout ça on est allé manger. Et bien sur ils nous fallait du dessert! Papa et Oncle Scott ont décidé de participer au concour de tarte au citron. Ils ont pas gagné, mais ils ont eu un bon dessert. Oui, ça ce mange sans les mains...

Aprés tout ça, il nous a fallu une petite sieste et on a terminé l'après,midi a la pisine avant de se faire des supers grillades à la maison. C'était super, on avait même de la musique live à la maison! Papa, Maman et Oncle Scott sont allés écouter le groupe et moi je suis restée à la maison avec grand-papa.

Et finallement, les feux d'artifices! Super, mais alors seulement sur les genoux a Papa ou Maman...

Wow, what a day! It all started when I woke up to find Grandpa and Uncle Scott in my room! I swear they weren't there when I fell asleep the night before.
We had a huge breakfast all together and decided to check out what was going on at the park. Mom had already seen on her run, all the people waiting to save a spot for the fireworks at night but we didn't know what was going on at the fair.

We got there just in time for me to race in the toddler race. I went SO fast! But was a bit distracted by everything that was going on.

Then Grandpa and Uncle Scott participated in the water balloon toss contest. Nope, I won't tell you who dropped the ball first.

We also got some eggs which I loved smashing on everyone's head and yes even on my own.

Later Mom and Dad raced in the 3-legged race. It was funny to see them, and they were pretty fast too, made it to the final round!

Then Dad and Uncle Scott decided to enter the Hula Hoop Contest. Here's the brother who outlasted the other:

After that I stood in line for finger painting and we got some food too. Then of course, some of us wanted dessert so Dad and Uncle Scott entered the pie eating contest. I'll let you judge...

That was all I could take at once, so I crashed for a nap before taking everyone to the pool to cool off a bit before a nice BBQ dinner at home. It was great because we had live music from the big party! Mom, Dad and Uncle Scott went to check out the music and I stayed home to chill with Grandpa and get ready for the fireworks.

I loved the show! We had the perfect view from our balcony, but it was best to watch them when Mom or Dad was holding me.

Avant qu'on se lance dans les festivités du weekend (c'est la fête nationale ici), il me faut tout de même terminer de vous parlez du mois de juin!Je crois que je vous ai tout raconté sauf ma visite au jardin botanique avec maman.
On est allée manger rien que les deux dans le café du jardin et puis elle m'a montré le jardin des roses et les poissons dans le jardin japonais. Mais ce qui m'a le plus fait plaisir, bien sur, c'est le jardin des enfants ou j'aurais bien pu passer toute la journée!

J'ai aussi commencé à utilisé les grandes toilettes -ben oui, c'est ce qu'elle fait aussi Liobé!- et puis je commence à pouvoir enlever mes pulls toutes seules, du moins qu'ils soient assez grands. C'est d'ailleur super pratique que je veux allez prendre un bain au milieu de la journée, même si c'est pas vraiment le moment...Je monte et descends toute seule de mon siège auto et de la poussette et j'ai appris a faire santé comme les grands!
J'aime bien chanter les chansons que j'apprends a l'école pour Papa et Maman et j'apprends a compter. Le mieux, c'est de compter en descendant les escaliers en sautant.

Before we get started with this big celebratory weekend, I wanted to finish telling you about last month! I think you pretty much know everything except for my trip to the Botanical Gardens with Mom.

Her and I had lunch at the café before she showed me the rose garden and the Koi fish in the Japanese garden. But what I like the most, probably to no surprise to you, was the children's Garden, I could have stayed there the entire day.

I started using the big potty - well, yes, that's what my cousin Liobé does too!- and, if they are loose enough I can take off my shirts all by myself which is great when I want to show my parents it's bathtime. I just show up naked...
I can get in and out of my car seat and stroller alone and learned how to cheer with everyone at dinner time.
One of my favorite new thing is to sing the songs I learn in school to Mom and Dad! And I'm learning how to count. The best way to do it is counting the stairs while hopping all the way down.

Un grand merci a Ansgar et Estelle pour avoir emmené Liobé et Maylis à Los Angeles. Je me suis super amusée avec mes cousines! J'ai même appris des nouveau mots en français et Liobé m'a montré comment enlever mes habits pour prendres notre bain. D'ailleurs c'était tellement chouette de prendre mon bain avec Liobé et Maylis que j'aurais bien pris 4 bains par jour.

Finallement c'était presque ça car on est allée s'amuser au jardin des enfants samedi après-midi et on etait toutes mouillées et dimanche on était a la plage à Santa Monica. On a déguster des délices du marche à midi, construit des châteaux de sable qu'on préferait détruire immédiatement et joué dans les vagues. Bon surtout Liobe, car moi, les vagues, ça me fait un peu peur encore. En fin de journee on est alle se promener a Venice Beach ou a mangé des glaces! Hummmm

Estelle m'a expliqué qu'ils avaient loué une très grande voiture comme une petite maison pour se promener jusqu'au lac Tahoe et revenir. Ben oui, ils vont revenir a Los Angeles pour me dire au-revoir avant de repartir a Boston. Oui, oui, je suis sure que c'est rien que pour moi!

I want to say THANK YOU to Ansgar and Estelle for bringing Liobé and Maylis to Los Angeles! I had a great time playing with my cousins over the weekend, and I learned new things too! Some new French words and Liobe showed me how to take my clothes off so I can get in the bath with her. Well, bathtime with Liobe and Maylis was so much fun that I wanted to take baths all the time!

It didn't really happen in our bathroom, BUT we did get wet quite a few times! We went back to the Huntington gardens and played in the kids garden on Saturday and Sunday we went to the beach!
First we stopped at farmer's market to get all kinds of goodies for a pic nic and then we played in the sand and water. At the end of the day, we also walked to Venice beach and got some ice cream there.

Sunday night, Estelle explained to me that they were going to drive in a big car around California. It's so big they can even sleep in it! So they are driving all the way up to Lake Tahoe and of course coming back to LA to see me before they go home to Boston. Yes yes, I know they are coming back just for me!
